Nigeria full tales

The Change That Was Never to Be – I have been inclined to gauge by means of a barometer the mood, opinion and mindset of people generally in relation to the Change Ideology being clamoured by all and sundry as championed by the opposition – All Progressive Congress (APC). No doubt, never before has there been this monumental craving for change in the recent history of our nation. The present system of things, coupled with the precarious economic situation brought about by the ineptitude and absurdity of our leadership cum the clash of civilization (the West versus East) manifesting itself before now in the form of Boko Haram, and lately in the form of deliberate/forced plummeting of oil price which happens to be the mainstay of our economy (having failed to diversify as at when due); I can not wish nor crave otherwise. As it has always been my position, something just has to give. Incidentally, in a democracy, it is a general belief that only the people can desire and effect the needed change irrespective of the inclination of the political class. Quite unfortunately as the case is right now, through subtle brainwashing and hypnotism, the people are being guided to do the biddings of a few – the reality of the present world order! The Valentine’s Day Election is already here. The political tempo is rising towards its crescendo. Putting the two presidential candidates side by side, I am among many who would not vote either: as they both represent the OLD ORDER. I am of the conviction that the majority feels this way. But since our political “directors” are nudging us toward this path we tread now, there is less the people can do than to make do with what they have. “Bi a’oba ra’dan, a maa fo’dide se’bo. As much as I am pained, and as much as I may not want to blame the people – for it may be said that they are mere victims of circumstances – but it must be said, they laid the foundation of these circumstances and built on them either willingly, out of ignorance or sheer tomfoolery. The Nigeria nation’s story is like that of a young virgin – beautiful, ravishing, sweet, sexy, and sassy – who radiated her endearing beauty in her prime and innocence. She was presented with so many suitors but mostly bedeviled by hawks who were mainly concerned about touching her erogenous papaws, sucking her juice dry, raping and plundering her materially and psychologically – even deluding her of her self-worth, sometimes in connivance of “good friends”. In her juvenile naivety, she succumbed (not once, not twice but nine times, even having to return to her vomits) to her zany but excusable cravings for a decorous man to realise her lofty dream of a holy matrimony. And she ages, bearing countless mongrels from each of her unholy matrimonies and flings. Seeing her peers exhibiting their full potential, she is full of regrets. It is dawn on her after all that she had wasted her prime time. Now, in her desperations, she would tread that path of folly again just so she could achieve the seemingly unachievable – succumbing to pressures from family and friends and irrational lust. Instead of exhibiting the expected wisdom and maturity which normally comes with age to properly sea and choose a single ideal man to nurture her and help her realise her dreams, goals and full potentials – having wasted yet another six years of her life – she would rather tag with the old and recycled even when she knows such could be inimical to her growth and development. As in the past, her judgment is again being beclouded by her seeming wealth and beauty – not realizing the magnitude of the damages she has caused by bearing so many illegitimate children thereby multiplying and pronouncing her poverty, yet basking in the euphoria of her long lost glory! She needs total rehabilitation and redirection. She needs a man – a worthy bridegroom who is full of vision, wisdom, knowledge and understanding. Most of all, she needs to confront herself, her fear and her realities and stop living in self denial and self delusion. So much are the burdens of my nation. Yes, Nigeria needs change, but a true and total reflective change. Not recycling the bulk of the people who help rewind its wheel of progress; not those who helped instituted despotic rule and entrenched corruption. Not ethnic bigots. Not religious fanatics who would dwell more in houses of worship than the Presidential Villa and throw diatribes at real and perceived political enemies. Not sectional leaders. So again, I will stick with Sheik Ahmad Gumi’s position; give me new men – not these present two – they both represent the OLD ORDER. Give me a new man – a worthy bridegroom who Nigeria could be betrothed to and help remodel her life!
