Sold by their own families for £50k: Tanzania's albinos hacked apart by witchdoctors who believe their body parts 'bring luck'
From UK Daily Mail
Tanzania's albinos are being 'hunted down like animals' as greed for money and influence drives families to turn on their own loved ones in a trade allegedly fuelled by some of the country's most powerful people. It is believed albino body parts will bring a person wealth, or luck - and for that, people are willing to pay as much as $3,000 or $4,000 for a limb, or as much as $75,000 - about £50,000 - for the 'full set', a whole body.
People
with albinism are regularly attacked by people who chop their limbs off
- an act which either leaves them severely mutilated, or dead.
Albinism, a
hereditary genetic condition which causes a total absence of
pigmentation in the skin, hair and eyes, affects one Tanzanian in 1,400,
often as a result of inbreeding in remote and rural communities,
experts say. In the West, it affects just one person in 20,000.
Since
people began collecting records of the attacks, there have been 74
killings and 59 survivors of attacks. Even the dead are not safe: 16
graves have been robbed.
And these are only the recorded cases.
The most recent case saw four-year-old Pendo Emmanuelle Nundi abducted from her home in December.

Dear LIB readers: My husband cheated just two days after our wedding
From a female LIB reader
I got married on December 18th and I found out just yesterday that my husband had sex with another woman on December 20th. We didn't go for our honeymoon until the 22nd and I can't believe he was telling me he loved me and laying with me when he cheated just two days after our wedding. Just two days! He couldn't even give me two months, two days. How do I deal with this? I've moved out of our room and now staying at a spare room. I spoke to my mum about it and she said I should forgive him. Is this what I am going to face forever?
"We (the govt) don't have the media behind us - Doyin Okupe
While speaking as a guest on a current affairs programme on STV this
afternoon, Presidential spokesman, Doyin Okupe said the present
government doesn't not have the backing of the media. Okupe stated this
while responding to a question on why the president's media team focus
more on talking about the opposition than the achievements of the
government such as the 50% reduction in maternal mortality rate in Nigeria now. I watch the programme myself and below is what he said;
"That is not correct. This government has built 38 dams. I did a programme called four impactful years. They were shown on television. We are not deceiving people. If I tell you we have 24 airport in Nigeria, are they not verifiable? I can tell you all the airports have been remodeled. Fact. Go to anywhere. Wherever you want to go. They have been remodeled. If I tell you that the Benin-ore road used to be a death trap. People used to spend 24 hours on the road, today day spend three hours. If I tell you the Lagos-Ibadan express road was built in 1976 or something like that and from that time or more than 30 years nobody did anything. It is ...If people deliberately refuse to see and the media find a way to underplay the achievements, we will keep trying, we will keep trying. Our God will justify us. We don't have the media behind us but we have God behind us"he said.
Asked
how the media can be captured by the opposition when they are the ones
in government, Okupe said
"Its not like the opposition took over the media. The elements within the opposition and the sentiments concerning the opposition had dominated the media prior to this event of Jonathan coming into power. Tell me which media organization in Nigeria where you can say that the government owns. Government doesn't own any media. but the opposition has tremendous influence in the media. Its unarguable. I don't want to go beyond that" he said

Annie Idibia opens on her life with 2face, says she wouldn't want her daughter to marry a man who has kids with other women
On being 2face Idibia's wife: "I’m married to Innocent, one of the most amazing men in the world. I want to believe our marriage is almost like every other marriage. He’s a good dad, great husband, a wonderful son-in-law, and he’s all that I thought he would be as a husband and more.
On the low points of their relationship: I think it would be the first time I heard that other people were having his baby, the second should be when we both sat down and agreed to end the relationship. We realized it couldn’t work and decided to break up. That was after I had Isabella.
On the high points of their relationship: His proposal was a high point; the way he went about it was special. And my wedding! I didn’t think we were going to end up together, and that’s the honest truth.
On his kids: I wish I was the mother of all his kids; the seven of them. But they are my kids; I just wish I was their biological mum. They’re awesome; you can’t help but love them. Everything else has made everything better.
On dealing with his other children: I won’t say it’s easy. I mean, you have kids with people, are you going to be their enemy? You have to have at least some civil relationship with them; you have to be very civil but God has been very faithful, and it’s still God all the way because it’s really not easy. I do not regret being with my husband but I would not want my daughter to be married to a man that has kids with other women, naturally. You know, it doesn’t make me love him less or feel like I don’t want to be here, I’m happy that I’m here, I don’t love him less, but I would not wish that for my daughter because even if the man is in, how about the other parties involved? But then, like I said, it’s key to be civil.
On her difficult pregnancies: I had CS for both kids. With Isabel it was good, it Olivia it was horrible. I was sick all through my second pregnancy, and it was difficult. With Isabel, it was easy.
